What Does ‘Walking with God’ Mean?
Many speak of “walking with God.” In the Bible’s fifth chapter of Deuteronomy, verse 33 says, “You shall walk in all the way that the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live, and that it may go well with you, and that you may live long…” Walking with God is a lifestyle. Stormie Omartian’s Learning to Walk With God shares a candid perspective for ‘whosoever will’ to embrace.

How Are Your Emotions?
Emotions are a strong part of our make-up. Did you ever consider how much they dictate the view we have of ourselves and our every day relationships? David Seamands’ in Healing Damaged Emotions says “events in our lives, both good and bad, form rings in us like the rings in a tree. Each ring records memories that affect our feelings, our relationships, and our thoughts about God.” Today’s segment will initiate the fact that the “past doesn’t have to hurt the present.”

Are You Struggling in the Midst of Hard Times?
Without a doubt, these are hard and challenging times, world-wide. On a personal level, some are in the midst of them on a larger degree than others. No matter where you fall, whether it’s now or later, the difference in how they’re handled will lie with your attitude. Omartian’s Remembering God’s Goodness in Bad Times helps us grapple with helpful ways to interact with our personal circumstances and those all around us.

I believe that what you’ll hear may very well surprise and give you a new view regarding this very Big God who desires to befriend and communicate with you, heart to heart.

Mother’s Day Musings
Today’s segment brings a shout out to mothers for all of their selfless acts of love and devotion. It also aims to help us to reflect on our accountability and ownership for the relationships and bonds that develop. If you are a Mom, biological or not, I’d like to personally thank you for all you’ve done to exemplify care, protection, and direction in the life or lives of those to whom you are known as Mom or Mother.

What’s My Purpose?
We all have a purpose. Are you aware of yours? Stormie Omartian’s You Have a Great Purpose is the subject of this week’s encouragement. In the midst of endless and often contradicting perspectives found in articles, books, blogs, movies, talk shows, and endless social media, who we are and what’s meant for us, as individuals, gets lost. They tell us who we are and who we should be. Still, there’s a sense that what’s being said doesn’t fit YOU. So, the question ‘what is your purpose?’ begs further contemplation and, ultimately, a response.

April Bids a Fresh Adieu
This morning, we will focus on the fact that even in the times of our lives that we call ‘bad,’ God is still good. I hope that Stormie Omartian’s reflection on this will encourage you for what lies ahead for you as we prepare to enter a brand new month; during this week, this day, and even this very moment. In fact, Remembering God’s Goodness in Bad Times launches the first of a number of Omartian’s readings that I will share with you.

Last week we read from Lisa Jo-Baker’s Never Unfriended: The Secret to Finding and Keeping Lasting Friendships. Today, we examine three examples of true friends; Ruth, Jonathan, and Jesus, the Christ.
