Children and Obesity Risks

Overweight children are prone to becoming and remaining overweight adults.  According to the CDC, childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents, in the past 30 years.  It’s reported that the percentage of children and young adults, aged 2 -19, in the US who were obese, increased from 13.9% in 2000, to 16.9% in 2010, to 18.5% in 2015.  This alarming statistic, which continues to grow, places our youth at risk for “adult” diseases, such as cardiovascular complications and type 2 diabetes.  Read more.
